Ramona is a Diné (Navajo) writer and filmmaker, Ramona Emerson's first novel, SHUTTER, was long-listed for a National Book Award. Her new novel, EXPOSURE is the second book in this literary mystery trilogy and hits shelves fall 2024. It follows Navajo forensic photographer Rita Todacheene, as she grapples with a fanatical serial killer—and the ghosts he leaves behind. Her books are "one of family and history, of culture and nature, of past and present, and of discovering oneself.” (USA Today). Emerson has an MFA in Creative Writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts. She's an Emmy nominee, a Sundance film Fellow, and a Time-Warner Storyteller Fellow. In 2020, Emerson was appointed to the Governor’s Council on Film and Media for the State of New Mexico.
