Is this the year you take on National Novel Writing Month? Maybe you only have an idea for a story. Perhaps you're working on your 10th novel. We don't care if you just started writing or just finished the thing, we want your first page!
Winners receive a $100 Maria's gift certificate and their work aired on the Page One radio program!
The five winning pages will be selected by mid-December. Winners will be aired on KSUT & KDUR in January 2025.
About Page One: Each week DPL Staff member Nancy Stoffer chooses a compelling first page from a book within the library's collection and reads it on local radio stations KDUR and KSUT. The Page One Radio program airs on KSUT Mondays 9:30 a.m. & Saturdays 7:56 a.m. and KDUR Fridays 11:45 a.m. & Sundays 10:30 a.m.
Contest rules:
- "One Page" = approx. 300 - 500 words, typed
- Original works by locals only
- Fiction, Poetry, Non-fiction, YA, Children's welcome
- Please include the title
- There is a youth category (Under age 18): let us know if you qualify qualify!
Submissions can be emailed to spenser.snarr@durangoco.gov or dropped off at Durango Public Library between November 1 and November 30.
