Presented by Robby Henes, owner/officer of Southwest Seed, a Native grass and wildflower producer/retailer located in Dolores, CO.
The topic of “Native” in the world of plants is a vast one with big ramifications in a wide range of applications. From what gets planted on our landscapes to what is allowed in some HOA’s, from the changes in our soils when weeds invade to what actually constitutes a Native grass or wildflower – the topics are diverse and sometimes controversial. We will start with some key aspects of understanding Natives for your personal projects and then explore some of the bigger implications of Native species on our landscapes. We will touch upon as wide a range of topics as time will allow us to get a sense of the wonder, mystery, real life situations and potential of “Natives”.
Overlooking the Animas River, the Durango Public Library and Botanical Gardens is one of the most popular gathering spots in our community.
