Scott Graham is the author of Death Valley Duel, book nine in the National Park Mystery Series, published in June by Torrey House Press. The critically acclaimed series features archaeologist Chuck Bender and his
family as they encounter villainous intrigue in America’s iconic western national parks, illuminating environmental and social justice issues specific to the parks along the way.
In addition to his mysteries, Scott is the author of five nonfiction books, including Extreme Kids, winner of the National Outdoor Book Award.
Scott is an avid outdoors person and advocate for public lands who lives with his wife, an emergency physician, in Durango. He has worked as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor, radio disk jockey, Durango City Councilor, and coal-shoveling fireman on the steam-powered Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
John Peel is a journalist and wanna-be novelist who has lived in Durango for three-plus decades, most of those with his wife, Judy. He spent 22 years as a reporter and editor
with the Durango Herald before starting a business, John Peel’s Life Preserver, which documents clients’ personal and family histories. He has written mountain biking and hiking
guidebooks for Southwest Colorado, which is really just an excuse to get out and hit the trails.
Overlooking the Animas River, the Durango Public Library and Botanical Gardens is one of the most popular gathering spots in our community.
