Kinsale Drake is a Diné poet based out of the Southwest. She received B.A.s in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration and English Creative Writing at Yale University, where she was a Mellon Mays scholar, winner of the Young Native Playwrights Award, and recipient of the Academy of American Poets College Prize. She is currently the executive director of the literary nonprofit NDN Girls Book Club, which has distributed 12,000 books by Indigenous authors to Native American families for free in 2024. Her debut collection of poetry, The Sky Was Once a Dark Blanket, is a winner of the National Poetry Series. Diné poet Jake Skeets says about her collection: “This debut collection is a book of time, lineage, dreams, and all the cosmic beauty we hold in our ‘language full of light.’” Drake’s work has been published or featured in The Atlantic, Poetry, Poets.org, Poem-a-Day, Yellow Medicine Review, and elsewhere.
Lily Painter Brings Water, also known by her English name, Lily, is a citizen of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. She is a poet, writer, community and arts advocate, filmmaker, and was an inaugural Remembering Our Sisters Fellow with the Center for Native American Youth where she advocated nationally for MMIWG2S+ awareness and policy advancement. She is also the former Miss Indian Oklahoma, a Teen Vogue 21 under 21, and a board member of NDN Girls Book Club.
