JULY 21: Small Mammals and Birds
Learn how to reduce human-wildlife conflicts in Colorado Parks and Wildlife's “Living With Wildlife” lecture series. In this lecture we will discuss how you can co-exist with small mammals and birds. The following topics will be explored:
- Basic biology of small mammals and birds
- Methods homeowners can use to deter small mammals and birds when damage or conflict is occurring on their property
- What to do when you see young wildlife
- What to do when you see sick wildlife
AUGUST 18: Ungulates
Learn how to reduce human-wildlife conflicts in Colorado Parks and Wildlife's “Living With Wildlife” lecture series. In this lecture we will discuss our local ungulates, including deer, elk, and moose. The following topics will be explored:
- Basic biology and management
- Consequences of feeding ungulates
- What to do to protect your garden and pets
- How to prevent negative interactions with ungulates
- What to do when you see sick/injured ungulates
- What to do when you see young fawns/calves
SEPTEMBER 15: Bears
Learn how to reduce human-wildlife conflicts in Colorado Parks and Wildlife's “Living With Wildlife” lecture series. In this lecture we will discuss how to reduce negative human-bear interactions. The following topics will be explored:
- Basic biology and behavior of bears
- How does CPW respond to bear conflicts
- Removing attractants
- Deterrent methods
- Preventing depredation of livestock
- Recreating in bear country
OCTOBER 27: Mountain Lions
Learn how to reduce human-wildlife conflicts in Colorado Parks and Wildlife's “Living With Wildlife” lecture series. In this lecture we will talk about the biggest cats in North America, the mountain lion.
The following topics will be explored:
- Basic biology and behavior of mountain lions
- How does CPW respond to lion conflicts
- Removing attractants
- Deterrent methods
- Preventing depredation of livestock
- Recreating in lion country
